The Food Safety Task Force in Telangana placed major pizza chains under the scanner during a statewide inspection, raiding 55 outlets, including several within the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits.

Major Chains Under Watch

The team inspected 18 Pizza Hut outlets, 16 Domino’s outlets, and 21 other pizzerias and bakeries. They identified violations in eight Pizza Hut outlets operated by Devyani International Ltd and Sapphire Foods India Ltd, including failure to properly segregate vegetarian and non-vegetarian items in GHMC outlets.

Widespread Violations Across Districts

Inspections in Hanumakonda (Kazipet) revealed unclean equipment, while in Warangal, food handlers had medical certificates without proper checks. Nizamabad outlets lacked licence display, freezer monitoring, and cleaning logs. In Nalgonda, inspectors found undated sauces, uncovered dustbins, and missing licences.

Domino’s Also Found Lacking

Ten Domino’s outlets run by Jubilant FoodWorks Ltd were flagged for violations such as expired licences, missing pest control, and a lack of safety gear. In Subedari (Hanumakonda), machinery was unclean, pest control records were outdated, and staff lacked medical checks. Warangal, Nizamabad, and Mahbubnagar outlets also showed similar lapses.

Other Pizzerias Booked

Six more establishments faced action. At Pizza Paradise in Hyderabad, officials found reused oil, rusty ovens, unlabelled ingredients, and no licence displayed. Master V Bakers had similar issues. Pizza Korner in Medak stored uncovered vegetables and reused oil, while La Pinoz Pizza in Kokapet (Narsingi) failed to follow cleaning schedules. Inspectors discarded unsafe food, instructed food business operators (FBOs) to rectify violations immediately, and collected food samples for lab testing.
