Key Update

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has suspended four of its notified food testing labs with immediate effect, stopping them from analysing food samples under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.

Six-Month Suspension Ordered

In an order dated November 7, 2025, the Quality Assurance Division announced that the suspension will continue for six months. The action falls under Regulation 10(2), read with clause (iii) of Regulation 10(1) of the Food Safety and Standards (Recognition and Notification of Laboratories) Regulations, 2018. The suspended food testing labs are:

• Eko Pro Engineers Pvt. Ltd., Ghaziabad
• Food Analysis and Research Laboratory (FARL), Allahabad
• Regional Food Research & Analysis Centre, Lucknow
• CVR Labs Pvt. Ltd., Chennai

Labs Allowed to Appeal

FSSAI stated that the four labs may appeal the suspension within 30 days as per Regulation 11(1). Dr Satyen Kumar Panda issued the order with the approval of the competent authority.
