Key Development
Nestlé India has issued an official statement addressing reports of precautionary recalls and withdrawals of certain European-manufactured infant formula products in some countries. The company clarified that none of the affected products or batches were imported into or sold in India. It added that only locally manufactured infant formula brands are available in the Indian market.
Compliance with FSSAI Standards Emphasised
According to the statement, all Nestlé India products are manufactured and released strictly in line with the standards prescribed by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), and in compliance with other applicable laws and regulations. The company reiterated that consumer safety and well-being remain its highest priority.
Recall Linked to Ingredient Quality Issue in Europe
Nestlé explained that the recall and withdrawal of certain batches of European-manufactured infant formula were initiated after a quality issue was detected in an ingredient supplied by a vendor. However, the company emphasised that no illnesses have been confirmed to be linked to these products so far. The official statement has been published on the Nestlé India website.
