Key Update
A video allegedly showing worms in hospital food served to patients at the District Civil Hospital in Gurugram has gone viral on social media, raising concerns about hygiene standards at the facility. The low-resolution clip, reportedly recorded on Monday from a patient’s room opposite the emergency ward, shows two plates of food that appear to contain insects while a patient lies nearby. In the video, the person filming questions the quality of food served to patients.
Video Triggers Online Reactions
The video drew sharp reactions online. Several users criticised the hospital administration and pointed out that the facility is already operating beyond its capacity. Others demanded strict action against those responsible for providing meals to patients. Hospital officials said they regularly monitor the quality of food served to patients. A senior staff member said the hospital prepares meals under hygienic conditions in the mess on the ground floor. Managers and dieticians inspect the food daily before serving it to patients.
Officials Order Inquiry
Lokveer Singh, Chief Medical Officer of Gurugram, said authorities have launched an inquiry into the matter. Preliminary checks suggest that the food shown in the video does not match the hospital’s menu for that day, indicating that the patient may have ordered food from outside or that someone else brought it. Dr Singh added that officials have instructed dieticians to ensure that only fresh food is served to patients. Authorities said they will take strict action if the investigation finds any lapse.
