From RO Plants to Ice Units: Indore Steps Up Checks

Key Update

In Indore, the district administration has launched a focused drive to monitor the quality of seasonal food items and drinking water, aiming to prevent adulteration and ensure hygienic production during the summer months. Authorities have placed local RO plants, ice factories, and unbranded cold drink units under strict surveillance. Teams are actively inspecting water sources and production processes for packaged drinking water, ice, and ice candies to ensure they meet safety standards.

Focus on Student-Dense Areas

District Collector Shivam Verma has directed teams to prioritise areas like Bhanwarkuan and Geeta Bhawan, where large numbers of outstation students reside. Officials are conducting regular checks in hostels and nearby eateries to ensure the quality and safety of food served. The administration is enforcing a strict zero-tolerance policy against unhygienic practices. Authorities will immediately seal units operating in unsafe conditions and register FIRs against violators.

Ongoing Enforcement Efforts

Since December 1, food safety teams in Indore have inspected 545 establishments and collected 1,131 samples, including 222 dairy products. Officials have carried out over 15 major enforcement actions, seizing large quantities of suspected adulterated items and temporarily shutting down several facilities.
