Adulterated Milk Tanker Seized in Agra After Child Deaths

Report

In a dramatic crackdown, officials intercepted a tanker carrying 5,000 litres of adulterated milk on its way from Madhya Pradesh to Agra via the Agra-Bah road. Acting swiftly, they disposed of the contaminated milk by dumping it onto the road, aiming to eliminate any risk to public health. A video of the operation quickly went viral, sparking widespread concern and debate on social media.

Tragic Deaths Prompt Immediate Action

The authorities launched the operation after two children in Agra tragically died from consuming adulterated milk. In response to the incident, the food safety department initiated a targeted crackdown on Saturday, just one day after the tragedy. Assistant Commissioner of the Food Department, Mahendra Srivastava, confirmed that the tanker—bearing registration number UP 80 GT 8088—transported milk without a thermostat. Investigators found the milk to be both fake and adulterated. The dairy vehicle originated from Tyagi Dairy, located in Kailaras, Morena district of Madhya Pradesh.

FSSAI Shares Video, Confirms Legal Action

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) shared the viral video on X (formerly Twitter), announcing strict enforcement actions. In its post, the agency stated: “#UPFDA has busted an illegal milk adulteration network in Agra. Officials seized a suspicious tanker and collected samples for lab testing. Legal action will follow based on the results. This swift intervention reflects #FSSAI’s strong commitment to ensuring food safety across the country.”
