Dahisar Fake Milk Racket: Toxic Water Sold in Branded Packets

Key Update

In Dahisar, Mumbai, authorities uncovered a disturbing case of adulteration or a fake milk racket where fraudsters deceived thousands by selling chemical-laced water disguised as genuine milk. They collected used packets from popular milk brands, refilled them with harmful chemicals, detergents, and starch-based solutions, and then resealed the packets to appear authentic. This adulterated liquid was circulated in local markets as real milk.

Authorities Raid and Seize Adulterated Milk

After receiving a tip-off, authorities in Dahisar raided the operation, seizing litres of fake milk, packaging machines, chemicals, and counterfeit packets. They sent samples for laboratory analysis, which confirmed the presence of dangerous chemicals that threaten consumers’ health. An official stated that while people believe they buy trusted milk brands, they actually consume toxic substances that can damage their liver, kidneys, and digestive system.

FSSAI and Police Launch Investigation

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) and local police are actively investigating the entire supply chain to arrest all those involved in the racket. They promised strict action under food safety and criminal laws against the culprits.

Public Urged to Stay Vigilant

Authorities urge citizens to carefully inspect milk packets for signs of tampering and report any suspicious products immediately to protect themselves from health risks.
