Expired Licence, Lab Lapses Found at Telangana Water Unit

The flying squad of the Telangana Food Safety Department detected several serious violations during an inspection of a packaged drinking water manufacturing unit in Medchal Malkajgiri district on March 14. Officials seized packaged drinking water stocks worth ₹55,800 during the raid.

Unit Operating with Expired Licence

telangana Officials found that the food business operator was functioning with an expired licence and had not displayed the mandatory Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) licence at the premises. The unit was also processing and supplying bottled drinking water to restaurants using expired or invalid licence numbers.

Quality Control Lab Found Non-Functional

During the inspection, officials discovered that the facility’s quality control laboratory was non-functional. Chemicals had expired, essential reagents were unavailable, and the unit was not conducting any testing of water samples. The establishment also did not have a qualified technician to oversee the production process. Food safety officials collected statutory samples of the bottled drinking water and sent them to a laboratory for analysis. Further action will be taken based on the test results.
