A distressing incident unfolded in Alappuzha at the Dr. Ambedkar Memorial Government Model Residential School in Punnapra, where 49 female students were admitted to the hospital due to suspected food poisoning. The students, who are studying in classes plus 2 and 6, experienced symptoms such as vomiting and abdominal pain after consuming lunch consisting of rice, sambar, and avial. Thirteen individuals were admitted to Alappuzha General Hospital, while 36 others were taken to Punnapra Cooperative Hospital. The school authorities informed that a total of 260 children and teachers had consumed the food, and an investigation is underway to identify the cause of the food poisoning. District Collector Haritha V Kumar visited the students at the general hospital, offering support and monitoring their well-being.
