Report
Around 20 individuals sought medical treatment after consuming biryani delivered in packets, and a young man in critical condition was admitted to the intensive care unit of a private hospital in Kottarakkara. The chicken biryani, distributed the previous day during the annual event of the Peruvelikkara Milk Cooperative Society, caused the food poisoning. Fourteen residents from Sasthamkotta Panchayat and two from Kunnathur Panchayat sought treatment at the Sasthamkotta Taluk Hospital and various private hospitals. Doctors confirmed the food poisoning by identifying symptoms of diarrhoea and vomiting.
Action Taken
Food safety officials inspected the catering unit in Thevalakkara but could not collect food samples for testing. Authorities suspect that the delay in consuming the biryani, which was prepared in the morning with boiled eggs and packed in containers, led to the food poisoning. Officials will submit a detailed report to the district authorities based on their findings.
