Food Safety Officials Seize Over 1,400 kg of Vegetable Sauce in Jaipur

Key Update

Food safety officers of the Health Department, Jaipur, seized 1,411 kg of vegetable sauce on Wednesday after finding it packed and ready for dispatch for sale. Officials also collected samples of the product for laboratory testing.

Inspection at Manufacturing Unit in Kanota

A food safety team inspected the manufacturing unit of Messrs Riddhi Siddhi Enterprises, manufacturer of the ‘Super Se Upar’ brand vegetable sauce, located in Kanota. Officials carried out the inspection following complaints about the poor quality of the product and observations recorded during previous inspections. Chief Medical and Health Officer (Jaipur II) Dr Manish Mittal said the department sent the inspection team after receiving multiple complaints regarding the quality of the vegetable sauce.

Regulatory Lapses Found During Inspection

During the inspection, officials found that the firm held a valid food licence but had failed to display it as required under food safety regulations. The firm operator also could not produce pest control records or water quality test reports at the site. Food safety officers further noted that the unit did not maintain medical fitness certificates for food handlers working at the facility.

Hygiene Issues and Legal Status

Officials observed that cleanliness levels at the manufacturing unit were below the required standards. As a result, the department will issue an improvement notice directing the firm to address the deficiencies. The inspection took place in the presence of the firm’s operator, Tirthraj Sharma. Officials confirmed that cases under the Food Safety and Standards Act (FSSA) are already pending against the firm.

Samples Sent for Testing; Further Action Pending

Authorities have sent the collected sauce samples to the Central State Food Laboratory for analysis. The department will initiate further action under the Food Safety and Standards Act after receiving the laboratory test results.
