Four Railway Stations in Malappuram Earn ‘Eat Right’ Tag

Report

For the first time, four railway stations in Malappuram district in Kerala have earned the Eat Right Station certification for ensuring food safety and cleanliness for passengers. Last year, only two stations in the district received this recognition. This year, Angadippuram, Kuttippuram, Tirur, and Parappanangadi stations secured the certification. With this, Kerala now has 35 certified stations, including 26 from the previous year. Tirur and Parappanangadi had also been certified last year.

Angadippuram Station Upgraded Under Amrit Bharat Scheme

Angadippuram station, which is undergoing modernization under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, earned its certification by meeting key criteria such as clean drinking water, proper food inspection, and overall sanitation. The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) grants the Eat Right Station certification. The Indian Railways, in partnership with Kerala’s Food Safety Department and IRCTC, conducted thorough inspections, surveys, and training sessions. They assessed everything from kitchen hygiene to food service operations before awarding the certification.
