Key Development
The Food Safety and Drug Administration (FSDA) in Haridwar, Uttarakhand, conducted a prompt enforcement operation after identifying mawa (khoya) suspected to be unsafe for consumption. Approximately 10 quintals of the product were seized and destroyed during the inspection.
The estimated value of the destroyed mawa stands at around ₹2.55 lakh. The operation is part of ongoing efforts to ensure food safety, particularly as demand for dairy-based sweets rises ahead of the festive season.
Ongoing Vigilance by Authorities
Officials emphasised that strict inspections and enforcement actions will continue to prevent the sale of adulterated or unhygienic food products in the market. The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is working closely with state authorities to ensure that all food sold to consumers is safe, hygienic, and compliant with quality standards.
