Key Development
Dimapur in Nagaland hosted a food safety and hygiene training programme for street food vendors at the Directorate of Tourism on Friday. The initiative aims to strengthen safe food handling, hygiene standards, and overall service quality, ensuring visitors enjoy a safe culinary experience during the upcoming Hornbill Festival.
Collaboration for Festival Preparedness
The Tourism Department organised the programme in partnership with the National Association of Street Vendors of India (NASVI), with support from Food Safety Training & Certification (FoSTaC) and Nestlé India. The initiative forms part of preparations for the festival, which draws visitors from across India and abroad.
Health Officials Stress Continuous Hygiene
Anoop Khinchi, Commissioner and Secretary of Health and Family Welfare, attended as the guest of honour. He urged vendors to maintain personal cleanliness, follow hygienic food preparation methods, keep stalls and surrounding areas clean, and practice proper waste disposal. He emphasised that food safety should be a sustained practice, not limited to the festival period.
Tourism Officials Call for Professionalism
Zasekuolie Chusi, Commissioner and Secretary of Tourism in Nagaland, described the training as timely and essential. He encouraged vendors to remain disciplined, efficient, and professional while serving festival visitors.
