Orumanayoor Panchayat, in Thrissur district, working with the Health Department, carried out a surprise inspection of food outlets and commercial establishments and uncovered serious hygiene violations and lapses. During the drive, officials shut down Hotel Thangal’s Ruchikkoot after they found untreated wastewater being discharged outside, missing employee health cards, untested drinking water, and no valid license. They issued notices to 10 establishments and fined 7 others for similar hygiene violations.

Checks on Worker Accommodations

The inspection team also checked migrant workers’ residences and penalised the building owner for housing labourers without essential safety measures. HI in-charge P.M. Vidyasagar, JHI H.J. Sushija, K. Rajesh, and Arun Vijayan led the inspection team.
