Key Update
The Health Department filed a criminal case against the owner of Taufiq Fish Mart & Chicken Centre in Vandanmedu, Idukki, after inspectors found the shop selling fish and chicken without a license and under unhygienic conditions. Following repeated complaints and multiple warnings, authorities discovered that the shop routinely dumped leftover fish and chicken on public roads and left dirty containers exposed. Officials found that workers had stacked the containers used for storing fish, along with other waste materials, on the road.
Enforcement Measures
Health authorities filed a case under the Kerala Public Health Act, prepared an official report (mahazar), and submitted the charge sheet to the Nedumkandam Judicial First Class Magistrate Court. Health inspectors across all eight panchayats and Kattappana Municipality will conduct inspections and take criminal action against establishments or individuals who violate public health regulations.
