Key Update
India and Russia have taken a major step toward improving cross-border food safety standards. On Friday, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) signed an agreement with Russia’s Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Well-being. The agreement aims to deepen collaboration in food safety, promote information exchange, and support stronger regulatory systems in both countries.
Focus on Better Surveillance and Shared Best Practices
Under the new partnership, both nations will work together on surveillance, risk assessment, and strengthening food safety frameworks. The agreement also opens the door for joint training, technical cooperation, and improved monitoring of food products traded between India and Russia.
Health Ministries Expand Collaboration
Alongside the food safety pact, India’s Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and Russia’s Ministry of Health signed a separate agreement to widen cooperation in healthcare, medical education, and scientific research.
