Key Update
Food and Drug Administration (FDA) officials seized around 500 kg of suspected adulterated ghee during intensive raids carried out across Indore on Tuesday. The enforcement drive aimed to check the quality of widely consumed dairy products in the city. Officials conducted a major inspection at Shri Dhenu Dairy Products in Palda Marble Mandi, where they found 34 large containers of ghee whose quality and source could not be verified. The team immediately seized the stock, valued at approximately ₹3 lakh, for further investigation.
Teams Expand Inspections Across the City
After the seizure, FDA teams in Indore expanded the inspection drive to other areas, including Rau, Limbodi, and Bhawarkua. They checked establishments that handle high-consumption dairy products such as milk, paneer, and mawa to ensure compliance with food safety standards. During the inspections, officials collected 29 samples from various outlets. They have sent these samples to the State Food Testing Laboratory in Bhopal for detailed analysis.
Authorities Warn of Strict Action
Officials launched the inspections as part of routine monitoring to protect public health and ensure that food businesses comply with safety regulations. They stressed that authorities will take strict action under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 against establishments that violate food safety norms. Further action will depend on the laboratory results, which will determine whether the seized products and collected samples meet the required safety standards.
