Key Update
The District Level Advisory Committee under the Food Safety and Standards Act met on Monday in Indore under the chairmanship of Collector Shivam Verma. He stressed that authorities must ensure the availability of safe, standard, and high-quality food across the district.
Strict Action Against Food Adulteration
Collector Verma said the administration will take firm legal action against food adulterators through continuous enforcement drives. He clarified that officials will act decisively in both pending and future cases. Additional Collector Roshan Rai, District Food Safety Officer Manish Swami, and officers from the concerned departments attended the meeting.
Risk-Based Inspections Intensified
Food safety teams are conducting regular inspections and collecting samples from food establishments district-wide. Following FSSAI’s Risk-Based Inspection System (RBIS), officials are prioritising high-risk establishments.
Since July 1, 2025, teams have carried out 576 inspections and collected 1,392 samples for laboratory testing, including 236 samples of milk and milk products. Authorities have registered cases against the accused, with sample analysis underway. Officials said they will take strict action against those found guilty.
Focus on Food Culture and Consumer Awareness
Emphasising Indore’s strong food and street food culture, Collector Verma said consumer safety remains paramount. The district will strengthen awareness initiatives alongside enforcement. Officials noted that Indore currently ranks first nationwide in the Eat Right Challenge-4 and has earlier topped the Eat Right Challenge-1 and the Eat Right Challenge-3.
Toll-Free Numbers for Complaints
To help consumers report food safety violations, the administration has issued two toll-free numbers—0731-181 and 0755-2840621—for complaints related to adulteration, substandard food, or violations of food safety norms.
