Report
TreeHouse Foods Inc., the multi-national food processing company recalled multiple varieties of frozen waffles after detecting Listeria monocytogenes contamination during testing.
The company distributed the recalled products across the United States and Canada in various packaging under different brand names. Consumers and retailers can identify the recalled waffles using the available list of product codes.
TreeHouse Foods has released an 85-page report that includes images of the recalled waffles. The recalled waffles are sold under brand names like Great Value, Best Choice, Always Save, Food Lion, Giant Eagle, Hannaford, and Simple Truth. Routine testing at the manufacturing facility uncovered Listeria contamination, which freezing temperatures do not eliminate.
At the time of the recall notice, the company had not received reports of confirmed illnesses. However, Listeria infection symptoms can take up to 70 days to appear after consuming contaminated food.TreeHouse Foods

About Listeria Infections
Food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes may not show signs of spoilage in appearance or odour, but it can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections. Anyone who has eaten the recalled waffles and experienced symptoms of Listeria infection should seek medical attention immediately and inform their healthcare providers about possible Listeria exposure.
People who have consumed any recalled items should monitor themselves for symptoms over the next few weeks, as listeriosis can develop up to 70 days after exposure to Listeria.
Symptoms of a Listeria infection include vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle pain, severe headache, and neck stiffness. Diagnosing Listeria infections requires laboratory tests, as the symptoms can mimic other illnesses.
Pregnant women, the elderly, young children, and individuals with weakened immune systems, such as cancer patients, are particularly vulnerable to severe illness, life-threatening infections, complications, and death. Even if pregnant women only experience mild flu-like symptoms, Listeria can lead to premature birth, infection in the newborn, or even fetal death.
