On May 19, 2023, a joyful marriage function turned into a health crisis as approximately 130 individuals were admitted to various hospitals in Malappuram district due to suspected food poisoning. The unfortunate incident took place during a marriage feast organized at Kalady near Edappal on Wednesday evening. Soon after consuming the food served by the groom’s family at the reception, a significant number of attendees developed distressing symptoms including fever, diarrhea, and vomiting, necessitating their immediate hospitalization. The affected individuals are currently receiving medical care at hospitals in Maranchery, Kalady, and Ponnani, while health officials continue to investigate the cause of the food poisoning.
