Momos Turns Risky: 10 Fall Sick in Noida, Food Samples Sent for Testing

Key Update

At least 10 people, including nine members of a single family, fell ill after allegedly consuming momos from a nearby shop in the Dadri area of Gautam Buddh Nagar district in Noida, officials said on Thursday. The affected individuals soon developed symptoms such as stomach pain, fever, and vomiting, prompting authorities to admit them to the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Dadri on Wednesday evening for treatment.

Doctors treated all the patients and later discharged them after their condition improved. According to Chief Medical Officer Narendra Kumar, the symptoms reported by the patients were consistent with food poisoning following the consumption of the momos.

Nine Members of One Family Fall Ill

Officials said that nine of the affected individuals belonged to the same family. Mohammad Arif, a local resident, said his family had purchased momos from a nearby shop shortly before they began to feel unwell. Soon after eating the food, several family members developed fever, stomach ache, and vomiting, which led to the hospitalisation of nine members of the household.

Food Safety Officials Collect Samples

Following the incident, Food Safety Department officials in Noida visited the shop and collected food samples from the premises. They have sent the samples for laboratory testing to determine the possible cause of the illness. Food Safety Department official Sarvesh Mishra said authorities will take further action once the laboratory test reports are available.
