NSF has introduced Certification Guideline 537, ensuring non-food compounds and food equipment materials are free from harmful PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances), also known as “forever chemicals.” These substances, used for their water- and stain-resistant properties, are linked to serious health risks like cancer and liver disease.
