Ban Lifted After Lab Confirmation
Patanjali Foods lifted the ban on a batch of its Organic Wild Honey with immediate effect after a Referral Laboratory confirmed that the batch complies with the Food Safety and Standards (Contaminants, Toxins and Residues) Regulations, 2011 and is safe for consumption. The Office of the Assistant Commissioner and Designated Officer of the Food Safety Department in Kargil, Union Territory of Ladakh, had issued the prohibition order on March 13, 2025, citing safety concerns.
Company Welcomes the Decision
Patanjali Foods assured that consumer health and product quality remain its top priorities. The company reaffirmed its commitment to adhering to all Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) regulations and performing rigorous quality checks on every batch. Local authorities had raised concerns about compliance with contaminant limits and safety standards, which led to the prohibition order. Officials sent the batch for additional testing to a Referral Laboratory to confirm its safety.
Why Referral Lab Tests Matter
Referral Labs serve as top-tier, government-authorized facilities that validate compliance in cases of dispute or uncertainty. Their certification reinforces transparency and strengthens trust in food safety enforcement.
