Pulamanthol in Malappuram Cracks Down on Unsanitary Food Outlets

Pulamanthol Panchayat of  Malappuram district, in coordination with the Health Department, conducted surprise inspections of food distribution establishments across Kattuppara, Thirunarayanapuram, and Pulamanthol. Officials identified outlets operating without Panchayat licenses, violating hygiene rules, and preparing or storing food in unsanitary conditions. They issued notices under the Kerala Public Health Act and reminded all food service employees to carry valid health cards.

Strict Safety Measures Enforced

Authorities directed outlets to provide only boiled water for drinking and warned that failure to install no-smoking boards would result in fines and legal action.

Inspection Team and Ongoing Checks

Health Inspector N. Anilkumar from Chemallassery Family Health Centre, along with Junior Health Inspectors Dhanya and Muhammad Rafiq, Public Health Nurse Beena, and Panchayat staff member Sandeep, led the inspections. Dr. Muhammad Faisal, Medical Officer at the Family Health Centre, stated that inspections will continue in the coming days due to reports of waterborne diseases such as jaundice.
