Report
In a major crackdown on food safety violations, officials raided an illegal sauce manufacturing unit in Kamre, Ranchi, Jharkhand, on Tuesday. The Food Safety Officer led the operation with support from Ratu police station personnel. The inspection team discovered that the unit was operating without a valid license, in clear violation of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006. Acting promptly, officials sealed the facility and began documentation for legal proceedings.
Massive Seizure
Authorities seized a staggering 4,020 litres of sauce and 960 litres of vinegar during the raid. They collected samples of both products and sent them to a certified laboratory for quality and safety testing. The Sadar Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) and the Deputy Food Safety Commissioner of Jharkhand supervised the raid. Officials stated that once they receive the lab test results, they will take strict legal action against the factory owner under applicable food safety laws.
Shocking Sanitation Standards
In addition to the license violations, the team observed extremely poor hygiene and sanitation conditions inside the factory. Officials confirmed that they will initiate separate legal action based on the unsanitary environment, which posed a serious risk to public health. This raid is part of an ongoing statewide drive to ensure food safety and crack down on unlicensed, hazardous food manufacturing units across Jharkhand. Authorities have reiterated their commitment to protecting public health by enforcing strict food safety regulations.
