Report
As summer sets in, the demand for refreshing juices has spiked—and so have hygiene violations. Food safety officials in Hyderabad launched intensified inspections across juice outlets, uncovering serious lapses in cleanliness and food handling, especially in Ameerpet.
Officials Find Rotten Fruits and Rusty Equipment
At A1 Fruit and Juice Shop, inspectors found rusty refrigerators and blades, along with a lack of proper drainage in the preparation area, which increased the risk of contamination. At Coconut Juice Bar, officials discovered cockroaches and other pests inside the refrigeration unit. At KGN Juice Centre, inspectors observed houseflies in the preparation zone and spoiled fruit salad ready to be served—clear signs of poor hygiene and neglect. Meanwhile, at Natural Flavours, authorities seized expired fruit syrups, including pineapple, blackcurrant, orange, blue, and banana crush. Staff had stored and used these well beyond their expiry dates, posing a serious risk to public health.
Authorities Crack Down to Safeguard Public Health
Food safety teams plan to continue these surprise inspections throughout the summer. They are urging juice vendors to maintain strict hygiene and proper food storage. Officials also advised consumers to choose outlets carefully and avoid stalls that look unhygienic.
