Stale Meat, Rice & Parotta Dough seized in Rajapalayam near Madurai

Authorities Destroy 18 kg of Stale Meat, Rice, Fish, and Ice Cream

Food Safety officials seized around 18 kg of stale cooked rice, mutton, chicken, and kneaded parotta dough, along with meat and fish that were not stored at the right temperature, from a popular biriyani shop on Sankarankoil Road in Rajapalayam, near Madurai. Led by Designated Officer S. Mariappan, the team also confiscated 2 kg of assorted ice creams that were piled up unsafely. All seized items were destroyed.

Kitchen Operating Without Licence Shut Down Immediately

Investigations revealed that the biriyani shop’s kitchen was operating from a poultry farm in A. Ramalingapuram is without a valid food safety licence. Authorities suspended the kitchen’s operations immediately. Officials also seized two bread packets that lacked manufacturing and expiry date labels. A case will be filed against the shop owner following the preliminary enquiry.
