Thiruvananthapuram authorities discovered unhygienic conditions at the base kitchen in Thycaud, Kerala, which prepares meals for the Vande Bharat train. The finding emerged during a statewide operation named ‘Operation Pothichor’, carried out under the directive of the Railway Police Chief, with health department officials to monitor food quality on trains and at railway stations.
Formal Notice Issued
Following the inspection, the municipal corporation’s health department issued a formal notice to the kitchen authorities, citing the unsanitary environment. Officials also inspected hotels and tea shops in and around Thiruvananthapuram railway station to ensure compliance with food safety standards.
