Thiruvananthapuram authorities discovered unhygienic conditions at the base kitchen in Thycaud, Kerala, which prepares meals for the Vande Bharat train. The finding emerged during a statewide operation named ‘Operation Pothichor’, carried out under the directive of the Railway Police Chief, with health department officials to monitor food quality on trains and at railway stations.

Formal Notice Issued

Following the inspection, the municipal corporation’s health department issued a formal notice to the kitchen authorities, citing the unsanitary environment. Officials also inspected hotels and tea shops in and around Thiruvananthapuram railway station to ensure compliance with food safety standards.

Indian Railways Prepares Vande Bharat Sleeper Coach Reveal

Meanwhile, Indian Railways is set to unveil the design of the first AC coach of the Vande Bharat Sleeper Train at the International Railway Equipment Exhibition (IREE) 2025, starting on 15 October at Delhi’s Bharat Mandapam. The new sleeper variant aims to offer enhanced comfort and modern features for long-distance travellers.
