Toxic Sauce Bust: Unhygienic Unit Sealed in Hapur

Key Update

Food safety officials sealed a manufacturing unit in Pannapuri, Hapur, in Uttar Pradesh after discovering that it was producing tomato sauce under extremely unhygienic conditions. During the raid, officials found that the unit was using vegetable pulp, acid, and banned synthetic colours to make tomato sauce. They also identified rotten materials and harmful chemical substances at the facility.

Adulterated Stock Seized

Authorities seized nearly 200 litres of adulterated sauce, which the operators allegedly supplied to local eateries and street vendors at just ₹20 per litre. Food Commissioner Sunil Kumar confirmed that the products appeared unsafe for consumption. Officials have sent samples for laboratory testing to determine the exact level of contamination.

Investigation and Legal Action

Authorities have seized the entire stock and begun destroying it. They have also launched an investigation to trace others involved in the supply and distribution network. Officials will take strict legal action based on lab results. Officials have urged consumers to remain cautious, especially when eating at roadside vendors. Extremely low prices often indicate the use of substandard or adulterated ingredients. Always check for basic hygiene and food quality, and report any suspicious practices to the food safety department immediately.
