Following a recent outbreak of waterborne diseases in Gandhinagar, Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC), Gujarat has intensified efforts to safeguard public health. The health department has been instructed to test water samples across affected areas and ensure proper food safety inspections. The engineering department has been directed to address contamination complaints immediately. Officials are also distributing chlorine tablets in affected areas and advising residents to consume only boiled water to prevent further illness.
Food Safety Checks in High-Risk Areas
To curb the spread of disease through food, authorities are inspecting eateries and other establishments in areas reporting waterborne and foodborne illnesses. Health teams are also conducting door-to-door surveys to identify new cases and ensure timely medical attention. VMC health centres have been instructed to prepare for emergencies and respond quickly to any outbreak-related cases.
Political Concerns Over Ongoing Contamination
Meanwhile, the Congress party staged protests in the Sama area, highlighting water contamination in three societies. Party leaders claimed the problem has persisted for nearly 20 days without resolution.
