Eramangalam, Malappuram, June 6, 2023: A joyous wedding function held at the Kiliyil Plaza auditorium in Eramangalam took a tragic turn as approximately 140 attendees were rushed to the hospital due to a severe case of food poisoning. The incident, believed to be caused by the consumption of mayonnaise, occurred during the ‘Nikah’ function held on June 3, Saturday night to celebrate the marriage of the Ayiroor resident’s daughter. Distressing symptoms such as diarrhea, vomiting, and fever plagued the affected individuals, prompting their immediate admission to hospitals on Sunday afternoon. While around 80 people sought treatment at a private hospital in Puthanpalli, the remaining patients were transferred to specialized facilities at Punnayurkulam and Ponnani government taluk hospital.
