In Bihar’s Darbhanga district, more than 30 children were hospitalised after eating their mid-day meal, which allegedly contained a dead lizard. The incident took place after the school cook prepared vegetables using gram-soaked overnight. During lunchtime, a student spotted the dead lizard in the mi-day meal food, screamed in shock, and fainted on the spot.

Children Fall Ill, Rushed to Hospital

Other students began experiencing stomach pain and vomiting, and several more fainted soon afterwards. As their condition deteriorated, staff rushed all the affected children to the Biraul Community Health Centre for emergency treatment. Doctors suspect food poisoning as the cause. While most children are now out of danger, a few remain under observation in critical condition.

Parents Demand Action

Parents gathered at the school and demanded strict action against those responsible. At the time of the incident, headmaster Amit Kumar Mandal was not present, as he had been assigned official duty as a Block Level Officer’s supervisor, according to reports.
