Bengaluru Boy Dies After Eating Cancelled Cake: Food Poisoning Suspected

Report

A tragic incident in Bengaluru’s Bhuvaneshwari Nagar resulted in the death of a 5-year-old boy and left his parents in critical condition after they consumed a cake delivered by Swiggy that a customer later cancelled.

The boy, Dheeraj, fell seriously ill shortly after his family shared the cake on Monday. His father, Balaraj, a Swiggy delivery executive, brought the cake home when the customer cancelled the order. Soon after eating, the entire family began experiencing severe symptoms of illness.

Sadly, Dheeraj did not survive, while Balaraj and his wife, Nagalakshmi, currently receive intensive care at KIMS Hospital.

Other Possible Causes

Authorities are investigating the incident, focusing primarily on food poisoning as a potential cause. However, they have not ruled out other possibilities, including a possible link between the cake and a suicide attempt.

The incident took place within the jurisdiction of the K P Agrahara police station. Officials are conducting a thorough investigation and awaiting forensic analysis of the cake, along with additional medical reports, to uncover the cause of the family’s sudden illness.
