Stale Food and Violations Uncovered in Food Inspections in Kottarakkara, Kollam

A taluk-level special squad conducted inspections in various food joints and business establishments in Neduvathur and Pavithreshwaram panchayats in Kottarakkara, Kollam, Kerala, seizing stale food and contaminated oil. The team found that the food was prepared in unhygienic conditions. They destroyed the stale food and filed a case for poor sanitation practices. Additionally, several establishments did not display price lists, resulting in more cases. Out of the 17 establishments inspected, inspectors found violations in seven and recommended actions for each, imposing a fine on one establishment.

R Athul, Legal Metrology Inspecting Assistant Unnikrishnan Nair, Kottarakkara Circle Food Safety Officer Nisha Rani, Food Safety Assistant Jagathish Chandran, and Rationing Inspectors S. Santhosh Kumar, V. Soumya, Naseela Begam, and Sanju Lawrance.
