Thiruvananthapuram: The district food safety department organized an ‘Eat Right’ walkathon on Saturday, following the guidelines of the National Health and Family Welfare Department. District Collector Anu Kumari flagged off the event, which started from Kowdiar Park and ended at Kanakakunnu Palace.
The initiative aimed to promote the ‘Eat Right India’ campaign, highlighting disease prevention and informed food choices. NCC cadets from various colleges and children from Sri Chitra Home actively participated. At Kanakakunnu, NSS volunteers from Kattakada Christian College performed a flash mob and a play on the theme ‘Save Food, Share Food.’
Seminar and Food Fair to Highlight Millets and Fortified Foods
As part of the campaign, a seminar and awareness program on the benefits of millet and fortified foods will take place at Bhagyamala Auditorium, Chandrasekharan Nair Stadium, on Tuesday. College students will participate, with Sub-Collector Alfred OV as the chief guest.
A food fair will follow the seminar to educate the public on the importance of millet and fortified foods. The event will conclude with prize distributions for competition winners and certificate presentations to institutions participating in the Eat Right Challenge.
