Report
Huhtamaki, a global packaging leader based in Finland, has launched new ice cream cups that are both compostable and recyclable. The company aims to combine sustainability with quality, offering a greener solution for the food packaging industry. These eco-friendly new cups break down naturally, whether composted at home or in industrial composting units. If composting isn’t an option, customers can recycle them. Huhtamaki uses durable paperboard sourced from responsibly managed forests and applies a plant-based bio-coating instead of fossil-fuel materials. Each cup contains less than 10% plastic, making it a more nature-friendly choice.
Quality Meets Sustainability
Fredrik Davidsson, President of Foodservice Packaging at Huhtamaki, stated that these cups reflect the company’s commitment to smart, sustainable packaging. “We’re proud to deliver a product that protects the planet without compromising on quality,” he said. These eco-friendly cups help ice cream brands reduce their environmental impact and achieve their sustainability goals.
Driving a Greener Future
By introducing packaging that is both compostable and recyclable, Huhtamaki strengthens its role in creating solutions that support a healthier planet. This launch represents a major step toward reducing plastic waste while ensuring safety and visual appeal for consumers.
