The Indian government has secured ₹1.02 lakh crore in investments for the food processing sector at the ‘World Food India’ summit, held from September 25 to 28 in New Delhi. Organised by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, the summit emphasised India’s commitment to strengthening food safety and processing infrastructure.
Record Investments to Boost Food Safety Infrastructure
Key players like Reliance Consumer Products, Coca-Cola India, Amul, and Nestle India signed MoUs to enhance food safety standards while expanding production. The investments will span major states like Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Uttar Pradesh, improving food safety systems and creating over 64,000 direct jobs.

- Reliance Consumer Products: ₹40,000 crore for integrated food manufacturing facilities.
- Coca-Cola Bottlers: ₹25,760 crore to expand food processing infrastructure with a focus on safety standards.
Global Food Regulators Summit: Focus on Food Safety
Parallel to the summit, the Global Food Regulators Summit 2025 highlighted the vital link between food safety, public health, and mental well-being. Inaugurated by Union Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda, the summit emphasised global food safety regulations and the role of science and technology in improving food systems.

With participation from 59 countries, the summit underscored India’s increasing leadership in food safety, showcasing its progress in regulations, testing infrastructure, and international collaboration. India continues to set global standards for safe, sustainable food systems.
