Punjab Govt to Launch Statewide Campaign Against Food Adulteration

Key Update

Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan on Friday announced that the state government will roll out a statewide awareness campaign to curb food adulteration. The initiative will start from Kotkapura in the Faridkot district. As part of the campaign, the government will conduct seminars and public programmes in schools to demonstrate quality testing methods for sub-standard and adulterated products such as milk, cheese, ghee and other dairy items.

Public to be Trained to Identify Adulterated Products

Sandhwan said the awareness campaign will also involve the general public, allowing people to observe adulteration detection techniques and learn how to check food quality on their own.

Strict action is Promised against Offenders

Seeking public support, the Speaker said collective participation was vital to safeguard public health in Punjab. He stressed that the government would leave no stone unturned to eliminate adulteration and would take strict action against those involved, regardless of personal relations or kinship.
