Noida Food Raids: 100 kg Sweets Destroyed, Expired Oils Seized Ahead of Holi

Key Update

Food safety teams in Noida destroyed around 100 kg of rasgullas at Samyak Mithaiwala in Sector 62 after they found the sweets stored in unhygienic conditions during a pre-Holi drive in GB Nagar. Assistant Commissioner (Food) Sarvesh Kumar said the rasgullas were polluted and infested with mosquitoes. Officials collected one sample for laboratory testing and destroyed the remaining stock on the spot.

Unfortified Oils Seized from Factory

During an inspection at Janaki Ballabh Foods Private Limited in UPSIDC Industrial Area, Site 5, Kasna, Greater Noida, officials discovered edible oils labelled with the FSSAI fortification logo but lacking vitamins A and D. Staff could not provide batch details. Authorities seized 291 tins of refined soybean oil, 3,968 pouches of refined soybean oil, and 6,995 pouches of refined palmolein oil and collected three samples for laboratory testing.

Expired and Mislabelled Oils Confiscated

Food safety teams also seized 91 tins (15 kg each) of expired Nutrilive Gold refined palmolein oil from another company. Officials collected one sample for testing. At Shyam Traders in Accher Market, they seized 313 kg of Hari Darshan refined rice bran oil stored in reused tins and around 80 litres of Gopi brand oil with unclear batch numbers, collecting samples from both cases.

Authorities Crack Down Ahead of Holi

Kumar said food safety teams will continue raids across the district leading up to Holi. Officials will take strict action against traders who compromise food safety to protect public health.
