Fried Chicken Complaint Triggers Coimbatore Inspection

Fried Chicken Complaint Triggers Coimbatore Inspection

Key Update

A. Sasikumar, a resident of Madukkarai in Coimbatore, visited the hypermarket with his family on Monday night and purchased fried chicken for his children. Within minutes of consuming the food, his children — including a toddler — developed symptoms such as vomiting and diarrhoea.  Sasikumar later said the chicken had a rotten smell and appeared spoiled. He also claimed that the store staff failed to respond properly when he raised the issue at the outlet.

Complaint Triggers Official Inspection

On Tuesday morning, Sasikumar filed a complaint with the Coimbatore district food safety officer, prompting authorities to inspect the hypermarket. Officials collected food samples, including frozen meat, and sent them for laboratory analysis. Initial checks reportedly did not reveal any expired food items, but authorities will determine further action after the lab results confirm whether the products met safety standards.
