Illegal Hub Busted for Banned Drugs and Expired Supplements in Delhi

Key Update

A joint task force, including Central Food Safety Officers, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India, and local police, has busted an illegal distribution unit dealing in banned performance-enhancing drugs and expired health supplements in Najafgarh in Delhi. The team conducted the raid at M/s Gaurav Vats Nutrition following a high-priority alert from the National Anti-Doping Agency. Officials found the unit operating without mandatory licences under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940 and the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.

Major Seizure of Banned Substances

Authorities seized around 2,800 capsules and tablets and 11 injectable units of banned substances. These included anabolic steroids such as Methenolone Enanthate, Trenbolone, and Stanozolol, along with Methandienone and Oxandrolone tablets. Officials also recovered 1,500 capsules of Selective Androgen Receptor Modulators (SARMs) and Adenosine Monophosphate injections. The State Drug Control Department has taken custody of the seized items and collected samples for further legal action.

Food Safety Violations Detected

FSSAI officials also identified serious food safety violations. The unit was selling health supplements without a valid licence. Authorities seized around 45 kg of expired weight gainers and whey protein, while 85 kg of protein and creatine products have been placed under scrutiny. Officials have drawn regulatory samples and initiated separate proceedings under food safety laws. “This coordinated action highlights our swift response to the distribution of unsafe and unauthorised substances that threaten both public health and the integrity of sports,” FSSAI said in a statement. Further investigation is ongoing.
