Food Safety officials seized 1,040 bottles of packaged drinking water during an inspection at the Aqua Wing Packaged Drinking Water unit in Tigaria Rao village, Indore, on Sunday. Authorities inspected the directions of Collector Shivam Verma as part of an ongoing summer drive to monitor the quality of food and beverages sold across the district.

Missing Batch Numbers and Date Markings Found

Officials launched the inspection after receiving a complaint against the unit. During the visit, the Food Safety team found that the unit’s printing machine was not functioning, preventing the bottles from carrying mandatory details such as batch numbers, manufacturing dates, and expiry dates. The team collected water samples for laboratory testing and seized 1,040 bottles that lacked proper batch numbers and date markings. Officials also ordered the unit to stop operations immediately until the printing machine becomes functional.

Collector Warns Food Businesses Over Licence Violations

Collector Shivam Verma said ensuring safe and quality food products for consumers remains the administration’s top priority. He noted that inspections frequently uncover food businesses operating without valid licences or running operations that do not match the category mentioned in their licences. He directed food business operators to obtain proper licences or registrations before starting operations and instructed them to display licences prominently at their establishments.

Public Asked to Report Food Safety Violations

The administration also appealed to consumers to report shops or establishments that fail to display valid licences or engage in suspected food adulteration and other irregularities. Residents can register complaints through the Collector Helpline number 0731-181, after which the Food Safety Administration will initiate immediate action.
