Stale Corn Row Puts Vijayawada McDonald’s Under Scanner

Key Update

Food safety officials in Andhra Pradesh’s NTR district inspected the McDonald’s outlet in Gurunanak Colony, Vijayawada, on Friday after receiving a consumer complaint alleging the outlet had served stale corn.

Officials Seize and Destroy Stale Corn

NTR District Assistant Food Controller B. Srinivas said the inspection team seized around eight cups of stale corn from the outlet and destroyed the product. According to officials, the outlet’s management discarded the corn cups before the food safety team arrived. However, based on witness accounts, officials recovered the cups from waste bins and documented the evidence. Following the inspection, the food safety department registered a case against the outlet under Section 53 of the Food Safety and Standards Act (FSS Act) and submitted it before the Joint Collector’s Court for further proceedings.

McDonald’s Responds

In a statement, McDonald’s said it remains committed to serving safe, high-quality food and follows strict hygiene and quality-control protocols throughout its operations and supply chain. The company added that it is fully cooperating with the authorities and remains open to any review of the matter.
