Three students reportedly suffered suspected food poisoning after eating Kuzhimandi purchased from Safran Mandi Hotel on Pookkom Road in Panoor in the Kannur district on Friday evening. Within hours of consuming the meal, the students experienced vomiting and severe discomfort. They sought treatment at a private hospital in Panoor and are currently in stable condition.

Families file complaints

Following the incident, the students’ families lodged complaints with the police and the Health Department, prompting an immediate investigation. Health Department officials conducted an emergency inspection at the hotel on Friday night. As part of the investigation, they ordered the establishment’s temporary closure pending further inspection. Officials also collected food samples from the hotel for laboratory analysis.

Further action awaits test results

Authorities said they will decide on further legal action after receiving the detailed inspection and laboratory reports.
