The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has suspended the food-business licences of three Domino’s Pizza outlets in Mumbai, operated by Jubilant FoodWorks Ltd., after inspections uncovered multiple violations related to hygiene, food storage, pest control and operational compliance. The affected outlets are located in Vile Parle West, Borivali West and Ghatkopar West. The FDA also ordered the suspension of a Domino’s outlet in Karad.

The action, taken under the leadership of Maharashtra FDA Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe, followed violations of the Food Safety and Standards (Food Business Licensing and Registration) Regulations, 2011, particularly the hygiene and sanitary requirements under Schedule 4.

Ghatkopar Outlet Records Extensive Violations

Inspectors found the most extensive deficiencies at the Domino’s outlet inside R-City Mall, Ghatkopar West. They found signs of pest infestation and noted that the outlet lacked effective pest-control measures and supporting records. The outlet also failed to follow FIFO (First-In, First-Out) and FEFO (First-Expired, First-Out) practices for food storage and did not maintain appropriate temperature controls.

Authorities also identified inadequate cleaning and sanitation facilities and the absence of a defined cleaning schedule. The outlet failed to produce mandatory documents, including food-grade certificates and records for food-contact materials. It also lacked adequate records relating to food handlers, including cleanliness, medical examinations, licensing and the use of protective equipment such as gloves and aprons.

The management could not provide food and water testing reports, equipment calibration and preventive-maintenance records, or demonstrate an effective system for addressing customer complaints.

Other Mumbai Outlets Also Penalised

The Vile Parle West and Borivali West outlets also failed to meet multiple Schedule 4 hygiene and sanitary requirements, leading to suspension of their licences. The licences will remain suspended until the outlets demonstrate compliance with the applicable food safety regulations.
