Acting on a petition alleging the sale of adulterated food at Krishna Janmabhoomi in Mathura, the Allahabad High Court has instructed the petitioner to file a fresh complaint with the Assistant Commissioner (Food), Department of Food Safety and Drug Administration, Lucknow, within two weeks.
Petitioner Alleges Sale of Adulterated Food, No Action Taken
The petition, filed by Shri Krishna Janmsthan Seva Sansthan through its secretary Kapil Kumar Sharma, claimed that the seventh respondent, Ashok Raghav, was selling adulterated food in violation of the Food Safety and Standards Act. The petitioner said he had lodged complaints with the Mathura district magistrate on August 28, 2024, and later with the Mathura SSP, but no action followed.
HC Sets Six-Week Timeline for Decision, Reserves Respondent’s Rights
The court directed the Assistant Commissioner (Food) in Lucknow to decide the matter within six weeks after hearing all concerned parties. State counsel informed the court that the official would act promptly. Disposing of the case on August 5, Justice Prakash Padia observed that keeping the petition pending would serve no purpose. The court also preserved Raghav’s right to seek modification or variation of the order if he felt aggrieved.
