Key Update
The Food Safety Department in Anantnag, Jammu and Kashmir, has banned the sale of KK atta (Batch No. A-22) after a safety inspection found it unfit for consumption. Officials collected a sample of the product—manufactured by KK Roller Flour Mills, EPIP, SIDCO Industrial Complex, Bari Brahmana, Jammu—and sent it to the Food Laboratory in Kashmir for testing. The lab report (No. FSSA/K/2025-26/MR-5551 dated 17-10-2025) confirmed the presence of insects, prompting immediate action from the authorities.
Authorities Order Immediate Withdrawal
Assistant Commissioner and Designated Officer for Food Safety, Sheikh Zameer Ahmad, stated that selling unsafe food violates the Food Safety and Standards Act (FSSA), 2006, and can pose serious health risks. The department has advised consumers to avoid purchasing this batch and has directed shopkeepers and distributors across Anantnag to pull the product from their shelves without delay.
Ban to Continue Until Further Notice
The prohibition on the sale of KK atta (Batch A-22) will remain in force until the Food Safety Department issues additional instructions.
