Cafe Goodluck Under Fire After Shocking Discovery

Overview

Pune’s legendary Cafe Goodluck faces intense scrutiny after a couple alleged they discovered glass shards in a food item served at the restaurant. The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) responded swiftly and temporarily suspended the eatery’s licence. The controversy began when the couple visited the popular café, ordered a bun muska and chai, and recorded a video that quickly went viral online. The video shows them biting into the bun before the man approaches the counter and says, “There’s a mirror in this, how is that possible?” The footage triggered widespread outrage and raised serious questions about the restaurant’s food safety and hygiene standards.

FDA Inspects Premises, Uncovers Violations

After the video surfaced, FDA officials launched an immediate inspection of Cafe Goodluck. They discovered multiple hygiene violations during the visit. FDA Joint Commissioner Suresh Annapure said, “We found unhygienic conditions during the inspection and suspended the eatery’s licence until they meet food safety requirements.”

Pune Staple Faces Reputation Crisis

Cafe Goodluck, once known for its iconic bun muska and chai, now grapples with a major reputational setback. For decades, locals and tourists alike have flocked to the Irani café, which has long stood as a cultural landmark in Pune. Now, with its licence suspended and hygiene concerns under the spotlight, the café must take corrective action to regain public trust. As the investigation continues, patrons across the city await clarity on whether the beloved establishment will reopen—and under what conditions.
