The eighteenth edition of the Dubai International Food Safety Conference was held at the Dubai World Trade Centre from October 21, 2024 – October 23, 2024. With a gathering of over 3,000 food safety experts and specialists, the conference focused on proactive approaches to global food safety challenges under the theme “Future Foresight in Food Safety.”
In the opening address, His Excellency Dawoud Al Hajri, Director General of Dubai Municipality, highlighted the need for agility in harnessing technology to address food safety issues, urging a proactive stance on global challenges like climate change and evolving food production methods. Al Hajri emphasized the conference’s role as a global platform for sharing expertise and innovations, reinforcing Dubai’s leadership in envisioning a sustainable food future.
Highlights
Dr. Kayan Akram Jaff from the FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations) echoed this sentiment, noting that current challenges demand collaboration and innovative solutions to ensure food security worldwide. His keynote, “Building Sustainable Food Systems for the Future,” underscored the importance of global cooperation in addressing food safety concerns.
The conference included sessions on topics such as sustainable nutrition, food testing technologies, and handling risks in food safety, alongside workshops with the Dubai Future Foundation on creative solutions for food security. A special student program allows young researchers to showcase projects, engage with experts, and participate in workshops focused on the future of food safety.
Dubai Municipality organizes the conference annually, creating a global platform for experts to advance food safety and sustainability solutions for the future.
